Water cooled flooded screw chiller for dairy project

Project Summary

The project covers an area of 84 acres with a total investment of 20 million USD. It will include the construction of general production workshops, milk collection rooms, electrical workshops, boiler rooms, office buildings, wastewater treatment plants, staff dormitories, and other buildings, with a total construction area of 18,000m². Upon completion, the project will have the capacity to process 500 tons of fresh milk daily. The fresh milk source is purchased according to the company's orders. The daily production of low-temperature yogurt under the "Jane Eyre" brand is 500 tons. The main technology process is milk collection → refinement → sterilization → raw materials → pasteurization → fermentation → cooling → filling.

Project Solution
Ice water system process: Equipped with 4 sets of water-cooled screw chillers, 1.2 million kcal, and 2 units of energy savers. The inlet and outlet temperatures of the chillers are 12/2 ℃, with a cooling capacity of 1414kw per unit, input power of 256kw, and COP of 5.52. The cooling capacity of the energy-saving unit is 2280kw (ambient temperature -15 ° C) and the power is 33.6kw;
Tower water system process: Equipped with a closed-loop cooling tower, the inlet water temperature is 40 ° C, the outlet water temperature is 30 ° C, the cooling flow rate is 350m³/h, fan power is 4 * 5.5kw, and water pump power is 5.5kw;
Cooling water system: Equipped with a plate heat exchanger, the heat exchange capacity is 2000kw, the inlet and outlet temperatures on the hot side are 12/7 ℃, and the cold side inlet and outlet temperatures are 2/10 ℃. The cold source is extracted from the ice water pool in the process;

Evaluation and Summary
1. The ice water chiller adopts a large water temperature difference design (10 ℃), increasing the overall performance by 7.5%, reducing pump power by 32%, and lowering project support costs by 30%.
2. Based on the climate characteristics of Chengde City, the energy-saving cold recovery system is designed for winter. Running the energy-saving cold recovery system during the winter reduces the temperature of the ice water process in the workshop and saves cooling costs for the chiller.
3. The project uses a flooded screw chiller to reduce cooling pump operation costs compared to traditional cooling equipment. The system's energy efficiency (COP) reaches up to 5.6, saving 25%-30% energy compared to conventional systems.
