What is HVAC? What components must an HVAC system include?

HVAC stands for Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning, collectively known as the Air Conditioning System.

Today, HVAC is widely used in our daily life, such as in air conditioning and ventilation systems in high-rise buildings, shopping malls, and heavy industries like power plants, airplanes, spacecraft, etc.

HVAC STRUCTURE

HEATING SYSTEM

Used to generate heat (warmth) in buildings or shopping centers, usually achieved by a central heating system.

The general components of the heating system include:

  • Boiler
  • Heater or heat pump: Used to heat water, steam, or air in central locations like a furnace room in a house or a mechanical room in a large building. The hot steam can be transferred by convection, conduction, or radiation.

VENTILATION SYSTEM

The role of this system is to change or replace the air flow in any space to control temperature or remove any combination of humidity, odors, smoke, heat, dust, or bacteria in the air or CO2 and supplement Oxygen.

In many cases, ventilation also involves exchanging airflow with the outside and circulating airflow inside the building.

The ventilation system is considered one of the most important factors in maintaining indoor air quality within each area of buildings.

VENTILATION METHODS

Currently, there are two main ventilation methods: forced ventilation (ventilation fan) and natural ventilation.

AIR CONDITIONING

The task: To provide air flow and humidity as required, either for the entire building or part of it. Typically, buildings with air conditioning have sealed windows, and opening windows reduces the cooling efficiency of the system.

Air conditioning and cooling are typically achieved by removing heat from inside the system. The air temperature can be reduced through radiation, convection, or conduction via a cooling device. Some mediums that help transfer cold, such as water, air, ice, chemicals, or collectively called refrigerants, are used in heat pump systems, where compressors control the thermodynamic cooling cycle or in refrigeration systems using pumps to transport a refrigerant (usually water or a glycol mixture).

HVAC SYSTEM CYCLE

  • Supply Air: Providing air, including both cold and hot air.
  • Return Air: Bringing the air back.
  • Exhaust Air: Discharging dirty air outside, usually from restrooms.

HVAC SYSTEM SIGNS

The most noticeable sign of an HVAC system is the ducts running throughout the building. Currently, the ducts for HVAC typically have three different shapes: Square (Rect), Round (Round), and Oval.

However, for easier manufacturing and construction, two types of ducts, square and round, are commonly used.

For an electrical contractor, designing and installing the HVAC system for a project is crucial. Most new electrical system construction or maintenance, renovation projects involve HVAC systems. Therefore, investors should approach professional HVAC contractors.

Remen is a professional electrical contractor that leads in HVAC design, installation, plumbing systems, fire protection systems, cleanroom systems, etc.

Built from highly skilled engineers and experienced professionals from large-scale projects like Royal City, Sky City, Vincom, Vinpearl Nha Trang, Golf Vũ Yên, etc., we will provide you with the best electrical solution.
